Richard Noel Marx (born September 16, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois) is an adult contemporary singer and songwriter. He had a string of successful hit singles in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including "Right Here Waiting," "Hazard," and "Hold On to the Nights." Although most of his successful songs were slow ballads like these, many of his songs had an upbeat, classic rock style, such as "Don't Mean Nothing," "Should've Known Better," "Satisfied," and "Wait for the Sunrise." Marx placed himself in the record books by being the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the top 5 on the US charts. Marx was born to Dick and Ruth Marx. Marx grew up in a mixed faith household where father was Jewish and his mother was a Christian. His father was a jingle writer for commercials, which is where Marx got his start writing at the tender age of five.

Can’t Lie To My Heart Lyrics

Richard Marx

I whispered you
Words I thought Id never say.
We played the game,
But then we tossed the rules away.
Could deny it
Justify it,
But we both know that we went too far.
Oh, I can feel you,
And I need you,
No matter wherever you are.
I dont want to watch my love come crashing down,
But I cant lie to my heart.
I dont really want your memory hangin round.
But baby, I just cant lie to my heart.
I have loved you
Longer than youve even known.
When you hurt, I hurt.
Im your flesh, and youre my bone.
If I could only
Be two people,
Darlin, I swear wed both be with you.
Oh, I know Im selfish,
But Im helpless.
I want you, and nothing else will do!
I dont want to watch my love come crashing down,
But I cant lie to my heart.
I dont really want your memory hangin round,
Rippin me right apart.
I wont pretend anymore.
Been hiding too long.
I wont go on like before.
Im not that strong!
[guitar interlude]
Oh, I can feel it when Im near you.
Its not healthy to need you this way.
Try to fight it, get inside it,
But this pain is stronger than me, and it wont go away!
I dont want to watch my love come crashing down,
But I cant lie to my heart.
I dont really want your memory hangin round,
Rippin me right apart.
I dont want to watch my love come crashing down,
But I cant lie to my heart.
I dont really want your memory hangin round.
Not anymore!
I cant lie anymore!!
Baby, I cant. baby, I cant.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. woah, woah. woah.
No, baby, I just cant lie to my heart.
