Richard Noel Marx (born September 16, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois) is an adult contemporary singer and songwriter. He had a string of successful hit singles in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including "Right Here Waiting," "Hazard," and "Hold On to the Nights." Although most of his successful songs were slow ballads like these, many of his songs had an upbeat, classic rock style, such as "Don't Mean Nothing," "Should've Known Better," "Satisfied," and "Wait for the Sunrise." Marx placed himself in the record books by being the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the top 5 on the US charts. Marx was born to Dick and Ruth Marx. Marx grew up in a mixed faith household where father was Jewish and his mother was a Christian. His father was a jingle writer for commercials, which is where Marx got his start writing at the tender age of five.

Big Boy Now Lyrics

Richard Marx

Ive been searching / not the first or the last
Trying to figure out the mystery of the half empty glass
Time is turning for the rest of the world
While a temporary leap of faith helps the story unfurl
They say that hearts dont stay broken
Even though the scars remain
And eyes dont stay swollen
Even if it feels that way
Chorus
But its not that serious / Im a big boy now
And Im not delirious / so dont show me how
Cause Ive gotten beyond the agony
And my perspective is saving me
Never doubted what the cards would reveal
And if the joker showed his ugly face
Not that big of a deal
Its just a moment in the scheme of it all
But its difficult to visualize when the axe starts to fall
But then a heart wont stay broken
Even on its darkest day
The right door could open
Pick you up and drift away
(repeat chorus)
With all the confusion
How does anybody come through
But life is illusion
And no one can tell you what youve gotta do
You know a heart wont stay broken
Even on its darkest day
The right door could open
Pick you up and drift away
(repeat chorus)
